Bittersweet is a bakery, deli, and coffee shop from the team behind Penny Drip in downtown Fort Wayne.

When opening a second daytime concept, the goal wasn’t to create another Penny Drip. Instead, Bittersweet was built around the idea of becoming the kind of neighborhood spot you can stop into every day — for a fresh bagel in the morning, coffee and pastries in the afternoon, or a sandwich from the deli at lunch.

from the bakery our Bagels are baked fresh daily and served with house-made schmears alongside rotating pastries including cookies, muffins, and scones.

At 11am, the deli opens with sandwiches served on house-made schiacciata, a Tuscan-style focaccia known for its crisp exterior and airy texture. The menu pulls inspiration from Italian delis, East Coast sandwich shops, and classic neighborhood bakeries with ingredients like mortadella, pistachio cream, stracciatella, calabrian mayo, giardiniera, and we have a nice selection of house-made grab n’ go style items from mac salad to banana pudding.

The coffee program features espresso drinks, house flavors, matcha, tea, and more. Like Penny Drip - all of our flavors are made in-house using real ingredients and all iced latte’s are shaken to order.

Bittersweet is open daily from 7am–4pm with bagels available until sold out and deli sandwiches beginning at 11am.
